Big Swimmer
Ages 7 years - 9 years
The Big Swimmer Program supports swimmers as they build strong fundamentals, endurance, and confidence across longer distances. Designed for swimmers aged 7 to 9, this program focuses on refining technique, breathing, and stroke coordination in a structured, supportive environment.
Whether a swimmer is progressing from our Little Swimmer program or joining us with or without previous swimming experience, Big Swimmer provides a clear path forward. Classes are taught in small groups with a 3:1 swimmer-to-instructor ratio, allowing for focused instruction while encouraging independence.
As swimmers move through the levels, they transition from shorter distances and foundational skills to longer swims, improved efficiency, and greater water awareness. Throughout the program, safety, consistency, and confidence remain central as swimmers continue their journey toward learning to love the water.

Class Length: 30 Minutes
Big Swimmer Level 1
Small group swim lessons for ages 7–9 | 3:1 Swimmer-to-Instructor | Half Lanes
Big Swimmer Level 1 is an ideal starting point for swimmers who are new to structured swim lessons or who need time to strengthen foundational skills.
Classes take place in half lanes and a dock if needed, allowing swimmers to focus on body position, coordination, and confidence without the pressure of longer distances. Swimmers work on comfort in deeper water, safe pool entry and exit, relaxed breathing, floating, gliding, and early swimming movements.
This level emphasizes fundamentals and safety while building trust and confidence in the water.
Enrollment & Registration
All programs at The Swim Space run on a monthly membership model based on four lessons per month.
Registration for new swimmers opens on the 20th of each month for the upcoming month.During the first 19 days of each month, current swimmers are given priority to transfer classes due to schedule changes or level progression. Because of this, requested class times cannot be guaranteed, even if they appear available. No payment is processed unless a space is confirmed.
Progress Check-Ins
Every 7–9 weeks, swimmers receive a progress check-in with one of our coaches or supervisors alongside their instructor. These check-ins look at overall skill development, confidence, and readiness to move to the next level—or what to focus on next.To ensure progress check-ins are meaningful and fair, swimmers must have attended at least 6 of the previous 9 classes and must not have missed their two most recent classes. This helps our team make accurate, consistent recommendations based on current participation and performance.
Progress check-ins are designed to support steady growth, clear communication, and a positive experience as swimmers continue their journey toward learning to love the water.
Safety First
Our small-group format allows instructors to provide focused attention and maintain a safe learning environment. If a swimmer requires one-on-one support beyond what’s possible in a group class, we may not be able to accommodate them at this time.If you have questions about safety or class fit, our team is happy to help at learn@theswimspace.com.
