Learn 2 B a Swim Instructor
Our Learn 2 B a Swim Instructor program is designed for people who have the right attitude and potential but don't yet have experience teaching swimming.
Training is paid.
You'll work alongside experienced instructors and coaches while learning how we teach, communicate, keep swimmers safe and create an environment where kids can become confident in the water.
Successfully complete the training program and you'll be ready to become a Swim Instructor at The Swim Space.
You might be a good fit if...
You like kids.
You've played sports or spent time around good coaches.
You're comfortable in the water.
You like learning new things.
You can take feedback.
And when you say you're going to be somewhere, you show up.
That last one matters.
Our swimmers count on their instructors every week, parents count on us, and teammates count on each other.
Reliability is one of the most important things we look for.
You don't need a long resume.
Some of our potential instructors may already have experience as:
Athletes
Coaches
Camp counsellors
Lifeguards
Babysitters
Volunteers
Dance or gymnastics instructors
Recreation leaders
Others may simply be looking for their first real opportunity.
We're interested in the person behind the resume.
What you'll learn
Working as a Swim Instructor can help you develop:
Leadership
Coaching
Communication
Confidence
Problem solving
Responsibility
Experience working with children
Experience working as part of a team
These are skills that transfer to almost anything you decide to do next.
A different kind of part-time job
The Swim Space is purpose-built for teaching children.
Our pool is warm and shallow. Classes are small. Our team works together closely. And our focus is not simply getting through a lesson.
We're here to help kids learn to Love The Water.
You'll have the opportunity to see the same swimmers every week and watch their confidence and skills grow because of something you helped teach them.
That's a pretty good way to spend a shift.
When we work
Our swim lessons run Tuesday through Sunday, primarily after school, evenings and weekends.
Tuesday to Friday: 4:15PM to 8:30PM
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00AM to 4:30/5:00PM
Part-time schedules can work particularly well for high school students, university and college students, athletes and people balancing other commitments.
We ask that staff commit to one to two shifts per week.
Nice to have, but not required
Experience working with children
Coaching or sport experience
Competitive or recreational swimming experience
Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross
First Aid or CPR-C
Don't have all of these?
That's okay.
This is a training position. We're more interested in your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
Interested?
Apply and tell us a little about yourself, the sports or activities you've been involved in, and why working with kids interests you.
